Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Alien ALR-F800 a portable RFID reader?
No. The ALR-F800 is an enterprise-class fixed UHF RFID reader designed for permanent installation. Handheld or sled-type readers should be considered for mobile RFID operations.
How many RFID antennas does the ALR-F800 support?
The reader has four external monostatic antenna ports. Antennas and RF cables may be supplied separately depending on the selected package and project requirements.
Which RFID tags can the ALR-F800 read?
It supports reading and programming passive UHF RFID tags compatible with EPC Class 1 Gen 2 and ISO/IEC 18000-6C standards.
Can the reader operate through Power over Ethernet?
Yes. Compatible PoE infrastructure or an appropriate PoE injector can supply both power and data through the Ethernet connection. The reader also supports a suitable 12 V DC power supply.
What is the RFID reading distance?
A fixed reading distance cannot be guaranteed. Performance depends on the tag chip and antenna, reader antenna, RF cable, output power, mounting surface and surrounding environmental conditions.
